Job summary

Banner Health seeks a Referral Specialist for the BIMC Internal Med Clinic in San Tan Valley, AZ. You will coordinate referrals, schedule specialty services, and work closely with patients, providers and payors to ensure timely access to care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of direct patient interaction/experience in medical, insurance, or healthcare.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and strong customer service.
• Proficient with commonly used office software.

Responsibilities

• Schedules appointments for specialty services and communicates with patients promptly.
• Liaises between patients, providers and staff for referrals and follow-up; assists with resources.
• Provides clinical information for payor authorization and verifies coverage.
• Tracks referrals at 30/60/90 days and follows up if appointments are not kept.
• Uses medical terminology and stays updated on insurance regulations; navigates payor rules.
• Collaborates with outside referral sources and maintains resources to develop referrals.
