Job summary

Prosser Memorial Health is seeking a Referral Coordinator to verify insurance benefits, obtain prior authorizations for referrals, visits, procedures, and testing, and to schedule appointments.

You will handle incoming referrals, coordinate with multiple departments, maintain electronic records, monitor loop closure, and communicate with patients to ensure timely information and confirmations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• One-year medical experience with exposure to insurance verification or referral authorization fundamentals.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT & ICD codes.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally.
• Ability to handle patient and organizational information in a confidential manner.
• Ability to work in an environment of continuous change.
• Ability to manage priorities and work under deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Check insurance benefits and obtain prior authorizations for outgoing referrals (visits, procedures, testing).
• Authorize and schedule all incoming referrals for office visits, procedures and testing.
• Coordinate appointments and communicate with patients; register patients.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure patient information is provided in electronic format when possible.
• Monitor referrals for loop closure and confirm attendance and documentation.
• Track and verify that consultation notes are received or sent.

FT, 80 hrs/pp, 1.0 FTE; varies as scheduled.Job Summary:Responsible for checking insurance benefits and obtaining prior authorizations for outgoing specialist visits, procedures, and testing. Ensuring all incoming referrals for office visits, procedures, and testing have been authorized and scheduled. Additionally, the referral coordinator’s responsibilities include appointment coordination, patient communication, and registering patients. Will work together with other departments and/or organizations to assure all necessary patient information is provided and/or obtained, and in electronic format whenever possible.
