Job summary

UofL Health in Louisville is seeking a Referral Coordinator for the Primary Care Outer Loop site. This role handles referrals for specialty visits and diagnostic imaging, ensuring timely processing of authorizations and pre-certifications.

You will schedule appointments, coordinate clinic visits, arrange transportation or interpreter services, and communicate with patients about their health care plan and billing questions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum one year of experience in a medical facility preferred.
• Knowledge of health care field and medical office protocols/procedures preferred.

Responsibilities

• Gathers, verifies and processes referrals, authorizations, and pre-certifications.
• Communicates information and answers patients’ questions regarding their health care plan; provide answers to billing and insurance clarification questions.
• Sets up appointments, coordinates clinic visits, and any special arrangements such as transportation, interpreter services, specialty care, etc.
• Notifies physician(s) and patient when referral is denied, or if additional information is needed.
• Develops and maintains database of referral physician offices preferred by each physician within the clinic.
