Job summary

UofL Health is seeking a Referral Coordinator for Family Medicine East in Louisville, KY to ensure patient referral needs are fulfilled for specialty visits and diagnostic imaging. Responsibilities include processing referrals, authorizations and pre-certifications to support timely reimbursement and scheduling of appointments.

The role requires gathering and communicating detailed information about health plans, coordinating clinic visits, and ensuring compliant handling of patient referrals

Qualifications

• Gathers, verifies and processes referrals, authorizations, and pre-certifications.
• Answers questions about health care plan and billing questions.
• Sets up appointments and coordinates clinic visits; arranges transportation or interpreter services if needed.
• Coordinates flow of information between clinic and referral authorization department to secure a valid referral.

Responsibilities

• Enters referrals, documents communication and action into the system, as appropriate.
• Notifies physician(s) and patient when referral is denied, or if additional information is needed.
• Develops and maintains database of referral physician offices preferred by each physician within the clinic.
• Assists Practice Manager with complaint resolution and solutions related to patient referral.
