Job summary

Trinity Health IHA Medical Group is seeking a Referral Coordinator to serve as a key link between patients and their healthcare team. You will handle all aspects of the referral process, including authorizations and follow-up, to ensure timely care.

You will contact insurance companies, educate patients and staff on referral information, schedule appointments, verify registrations and insurance details, and maintain accurate records.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Minimum 2 years' experience with insurance referrals or prior authorization.
• Healthcare office experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Contact insurers and obtain authorization for specific plans.
• Educate patients and staff with referral and insurance information.
• Obtain urgent authorizations same day and next day.
• Schedule, confirm, and coordinate patient appointments.
• Answer questions, route calls appropriately, and relay messages to clinical staff.
• Verify patient registration and insurance information.
• Support referrals, authorizations, and patient outreach activities.
• Maintain accurate documentation and patient records.
• Test tracks the referrals until fulfilled by the patient.
