Job summary

Trinity Health IHA Medical Group is seeking a customer-focused Referral Coordinator to manage all aspects of the referral process, including authorizations and follow-up for timely access to care.

Responsibilities include contacting insurance companies for plan authorizations, educating patients and staff, scheduling and coordinating appointments, verifying registrations and coverage, and maintaining accurate documentation. Two years of experience with insurance referrals is preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience with insurance referrals and prior authorization.
• Experience in a medical office setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Contact insurance companies and obtains authorization for specific plans.
• Educate patients and staff with pertinent referral and insurance information.
• Obtains urgent authorizations same day and next day.
• Schedule, confirm, and coordinate patient appointments.
• Answer questions, route calls appropriately, and relay messages to clinical staff.
• Verify patient registration and insurance information.
• Support referrals, authorizations, and patient outreach activities.
• Maintain accurate documentation and patient records.
• Test tracks the referrals until fulfilled by the patient.
