Job summary

TriState Health is seeking a Referral Coordinator to manage incoming referrals and prepare them for scheduling with the appropriate clinic. You will prioritize urgent referrals and coordinate with providers to gather necessary information.

You will verify insurance details, maintain EMR updates, ensure proper authorizations, and uphold HIPAA compliance while delivering professional communication with patients and staff.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED, required.
• Minimum 1 year experience in a medical office or hospital setting.
• Experience performing pre-authorization functions or medical insurance billing.
• CPT/ICD coding experience preferred.
• Familiarity with medical terminology.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Process referrals timely and prepare for scheduling with the appropriate clinic.
• Contact referring providers/facilities to gather information as needed.
• Verify patient insurance and benefit information.
• Update patient information within the EMR as necessary.
• Assure authorization to see specialists has been put in place by referring provider/facility.
• Comply with HIPAA regulations and the organization’s policies and procedures.
• Perform other clerical duties as required.
