Job summary

UMC Health System seeks a full-time Referral Coordinator to manage outgoing referrals to specialists within the UMCP Clinics. The role emphasizes strong customer service, organization, and urgency in processing authorizations, scheduling, and documentation.

The position is based in the Corporate Office/Referral Center with daytime hours, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Benefits include PTO, health/dental/vision insurance, 401(k) with company match, EAP, and more.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to speak with patients, insurance companies and specialist offices to coordinate care.
• Experience with managed care referrals.
• Previous medical office experience, 1+ year.
• Previous medical insurance experience, 1+ year.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate all outgoing referrals for UMCP Clinics, including obtaining authorizations/precertification, scheduling with specialists, and related documentation.
• Assist with data entry of completed referrals and track related correspondence.
• Perform duties with a sense of urgency and accuracy.
• Additional responsibilities as assigned; hours may vary to accommodate organizational needs.
