Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health is seeking a Laboratory Support Associate to support the processing, mailing and result reporting of specimens sent to outside reference laboratories. The role coordinates patient specimens for chemistry, special chemistry and serology laboratories and ensures timely shipment and documentation.

The position emphasizes accuracy in data entry, adherence to lab procedures, and teamwork to maintain smooth operations across shifts and departments.

Qualifications

• 1 year of data entry experience.
• Familiarity with general laboratory procedures preferred.
• Excellent communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Centrifuges, aliquots and labels blood specimens for mail-out to reference laboratories.
• Processes and labels lab outreach specimens for blood bank, chemistry, hematology and microbiology.
• Prepares specimens requiring special handling according to reference lab test specifications.
• Prepares lab shipping batches and files department paperwork.
• Maintains inventory of department and reference lab supplies.
• Safely operates department equipment according to manufacturer guidelines.
