Job summary

Cumberland County Government in Portland, ME seeks a full-time Re-Entry Program Coordinator to oversee day-to-day activities of the re-entry initiative and provide planning services to support reintegration and reduce recidivism. The role works under the Sheriff’s Office and includes collaboration with jail staff, probation/parole, and community partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in social work, criminal justice, public administration, or a related field.
• Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) preferred.
• Experience with individuals in the criminal justice system, preferably in reentry or corrections.
• Knowledge of reentry principles and evidence-based practices.
• Strong organizational, planning, and project management skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities.
• Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate reentry program activities and planning services to support reintegration and reduce recidivism.
• Collaborate with jail staff, probation/parole, law enforcement, and community partners to coordinate services.
• Screen inmates and conduct risk/needs assessments using validated instruments.
• Coordinate referrals and track case progress based on risk and need.
• Lead weekly release planning meetings with partners and manage information sharing.
• Maintain an active caseload and connect clients with housing, employment, healthcare, and legal resources.
• Provide ongoing support, crisis intervention, and advocacy throughout the reentry process.
• Maintain records for grant reporting and program monitoring; prepare reports for funders.
