Job summary

SimVentions is seeking an experienced Red Team Penetration Tester to perform offensive cybersecurity operations for U.S. Government and DoD systems. The role requires handling complex testing tools, working with Blue Team partners, and maintaining high security standards.

Applicants should have five years of DoD/IT experience, strong Linux skills, and hands-on Penetration Testing capabilities. Active Secret clearance is required; Top Secret with SCI eligibility is preferred.

Qualifications

• Five years' experience in software engineering applied to DoD or IT systems.
• Firm grasp of Linux and foundational Windows knowledge.
• Strong working knowledge of common penetration testing tools (Kali, Metasploit, NMAP, Cobalt Strike).
• Experience in at least one of: Penetration Testing, Red Team, tool/software development, or web/app security.
• Certifications such as Security+, CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, SSCP or Offensive Security/SANS credentials.
• CTF participation and security research contributing to CVEs.

Responsibilities

• Debug and reverse engineer software.
• Analyze Windows events and Linux logs and dmesg outputs.
• Develop and debug Web 2.0, Java, C++, and scripting tools using relevant CM tools.
• Recommend software changes to mitigate known vulnerabilities.
• Operate and administer mixed OS environments including UNIX and Windows.
• Identify security flaws in code, understand network protocols and security measures.
• Apply NSA encryption tech and DISA STIGs in system architectures.
• Participate in code reviews and perform static analysis; contribute to SSAOM.
