Job summary

Republic Services is seeking a Level 2 Sorter to oversee and perform various tasks at the recycling center, including inventory control, quality control and safety compliance. You will sort recoverables from waste, deposit materials, and assist with line operations while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Qualifications

• Trained in Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.
• Minimum of 6 months related experience in a recycling center.

Responsibilities

• Sort and segregate recoverable materials from incoming waste.
• Deposit recoverable material into appropriate chute.
• Assist other sorters with heavy items.
• Communicate with equipment operators about loads requiring attention.
• Increase production by minimizing downtime and training sorters on the line.
• Ensure safety rules on the sort line and stop conveyor in emergencies.
• Inspect and remove jams on the sort line.
• Clean the automated sorting equipment daily and perform light maintenance.
• Assist Maintenance Technicians during system repairs.
• Distinguish different types of recyclables by material type.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
