Job summary

Republic Services in Memphis, TN is seeking a Level 2 Sorter to oversee and perform operations support at the recycling center, including inventory control, quality checks and safety compliance.

You will sort recyclables, assist with line production, and coordinate with equipment operators to manage incoming loads. The role includes stopping the belt in emergencies, performing cleanings, and supporting maintenance as needed.

Qualifications

• Trained in Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.
• Minimum of 6 months related experience in a recycling center.

Responsibilities

• Sort and segregate recoverable materials from incoming waste.
• Deposit recoverable material safely into the appropriate chute.
• Assist other sorters on an as-needed basis with heavy items.
• Communicate with equipment operators regarding loads that require special attention.
• Increase production by minimizing downtime and training sorters on the line.
• Ensure compliance with safety rules and stop the conveyor belt in emergencies.
• Inspect and remove jams on the sort line.
• Clean the automated sorting equipment daily and perform light maintenance.
