Job summary

Republic Services, a leader in environmental services, is seeking a Sorter to safely and efficiently process incoming recyclable materials so that outbound commodities are acceptable for sale to brokers or mills. You will sort materials (aluminum, plastic, glass, paper, etc.), deposit them into appropriate chutes, and assist other sorters on heavy items.

Qualifications

• Experience sorting recyclable materials in a recycling facility.

Responsibilities

• Sort and segregate recoverable materials (e.g., aluminum, plastic, glass, paper) from incoming waste.
• Deposit recoverable materials into appropriate chute.
• Assist other sorters on heavy or bulky items as needed.
• Follow safety policies, including stopping conveyors in emergencies.
• Inspect incoming loads for unacceptable waste and remove as required.
• Communicate with equipment operators about loads requiring special attention.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
