Position Summary

Santa Monica Seafood Company is seeking a Recruiter - Bilingual English/Spanish to join our Human Resources team at our Rancho Dominguez headquarters. This position will support recruiting for a wide range of roles across the business, including warehouse, production, delivery driver, administrative, customer service, sales support, and other operational positions.

This is a hands‑on recruiting role for someone who enjoys working in a fast‑moving, practical, operations‑focused environment. The Recruiter will partner directly with hiring managers, help fill critical openings, and support candidates from first contact through onboarding.

The ideal candidate will understand that recruiting is both a people function and an operating function. The goal is to help SMS hire qualified employees efficiently while treating candidates with professionalism, respect, and clear communication.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage full life cycle recruiting for hourly and salaried positions across multiple departments and locations.
• Work with hiring managers to understand staffing needs, job requirements, schedules, qualifications, and hiring urgency.
• Draft and post job advertisements using the company's applicant tracking and advertising tools.
• Source candidates through job boards, resume databases, referrals, community contacts, walk‑ins, job fairs, and other recruiting channels.
• Conduct bilingual phone screens and initial interviews in English and Spanish.
• Coordinate interviews between candidates and hiring managers.
• Evaluate candidate qualifications and help managers make practical hiring decisions.
• Prepare and extend employment offers consistent with approved pay ranges, internal equity, and company guidelines.
• Coordinate post‑offer steps, including background checks, drug screens, employment eligibility, onboarding paperwork, and related new hire requirements, in partnership with the HR Admin and other HR team members.
• Monitor candidate progress through the onboarding process and follow up as needed to ensure timely completion.
• Maintain accurate candidate, requisition, and hiring records in Taleo and related HR systems.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with candidates throughout the process.
• Help improve recruiting speed, candidate flow, candidate communication, and hiring manager follow‑up.
• Support onsite hiring events, community recruiting, and other recruiting initiatives as needed.
• Represent SMS in a manner consistent with the company's values of quality, integrity, service, and reliability.
• Ensure recruiting practices are consistent with company policy and applicable employment law.

Qualifications

• Bilingual English/Spanish required, including the ability to speak with candidates and employees in both languages.
• Prior recruiting, HR, staffing agency, or high‑volume hiring experience preferred.
• Experience recruiting for warehouse, production, transportation, logistics, food distribution, manufacturing, or similar operational roles strongly preferred.
• Comfortable recruiting for both hourly and salaried positions.
• Strong phone screening, interviewing, follow‑up, and candidate communication skills.
• Able to manage multiple open positions at the same time.
• Organized, detail‑oriented, and able to keep candidate and requisition records current.
• Practical judgment and ability to work well with busy hiring managers.
• Comfortable using applicant tracking systems, HR systems, job boards, Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Excel.
• Experience with Taleo and Dayforce is a plus.
• Familiarity with I-9, E-Verify, background check, drug screen, and onboarding processes is a plus.

The successful candidate will be responsive, organized, and comfortable working with a wide variety of people. This person should be able to shift easily between recruiting a delivery driver, a warehouse associate, an administrative employee, a customer service employee, and a supervisor‑level candidate, while keeping the process moving and maintaining accurate records.

We are looking for someone who is comfortable working in a team‑oriented HR department, understands the importance of timely follow‑up, and can support a business that depends on reliable staffing, safe operations, and excellent customer service.

Work Environment

This position is based at Santa Monica Seafood's Rancho Dominguez headquarters and follows a hybrid schedule, with three days onsite per week. Additional onsite time may be needed for hiring events, interviews, onboarding, business needs, or meetings with hiring managers.

The role supports a diverse workforce across operations, distribution, production, sales, administration, and other business functions.

Compensation and Benefits

The starting base salary range for this position is $70,000 to $75,000 annually, plus eligibility for incentive compensation under the company's applicable incentive program.
