Job summary

The City of Williamsburg Fire Department is seeking qualified candidates to join our high-performance team as Recruit Firefighter, Certified Firefighter/EMT, or Firefighter/Medic. We offer a pathway to paramedic certification and comprehensive benefits.

Applicants must meet basic requirements including a high school diploma, 18+ years of age, background check, drug screen, and a valid Virginia driver’s license.

• Valid Virginia driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Background check and drug screen required.
• EMT certification preferred; candidates without EMT will pursue Paramedic Certification.

Job Opportunities

The City of Williamsburg Fire Department is seeking a qualified candidate to join our high-performance team. We are accepting applications from individuals interested in serving as a Recruit Firefighter, Certified Firefighter/EMT, or Firefighter/Medic.

Requirements for all candidates:

• High school diploma (or equivalent)
• 18 years of age or older
• Acceptable criminal background check and drug screen results
• Must possess a valid Virginia driver's license and have an acceptable driving record based upon city criteria
• Certification preferred EMT

Candidates not possessing preferred certifications will be required to obtain Paramedic Certification and successfully complete Hampton Roads Recruit Fire Academy.

Salary starts at $56,174.66/ yr.

Certifications required:

• Valid CPR card.
• EMT Certification

Salary starts at $59,674.66/ yr. or higher depending on qualifications.
