Job summary

King William County in Virginia seeks a Firefighter/Medic to provide emergency medical services, fire suppression, rescue, and prevention. Under general supervision, you will respond to emergencies, assess patients, administer care, operate fire apparatus, and transport patients to medical facilities.

You may mentor junior firefighters, perform station duties, inspections, and equipment maintenance, and support fire prevention and public safety education.

Qualifications

• Requires a High School diploma or GED and completion of an approved regional fire academy plus EMT-B certification.
• CPR and NREMT-Basic or equivalent credentials are required.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record are essential.
• ICS 100/200/700/800 and HazMat Operations are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide emergency medical services, life support, and patient transport.
• Perform fire suppression, rescue, and prevention duties.
• Complete reports, inspections, and station/equipment maintenance.
• Assist in training and mentoring Firefighter/Medic staff.
