Qualifications

  • Associates Degree or 60 college credits in Human Services, or High School Diploma with 1 year shelter experience.
  • Ability to communicate professionally (oral and written) with Spanish-speaking clients.
  • Plan, coordinate, publicize, implement and facilitate support groups, recreational activities, events and holiday programs.
  • Coordinate programs with case managers to facilitate In-Reach sessions.
  • Develop contacts for off-site activities.
  • Assist in preparing and submitting written and statistical reports.
  • Provide aftercare to assigned clients who have been placed / discharged.

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the following position:

Position: Recreation Specialist

The Recreation Specialist is responsible for the direct supervision of the clients in their assigned area, and for enforcing applicable rules and providing assistance as needed.

Location: New York, NY 10025

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree or 60 college credits courses in Human Services field or High School Diploma or GED with 1 year of relevant shelter experience. The position also requires a demonstrated ability in verbal and written communication, including basic computer skills.
  • Ability to communicate professionally (oral and written) with Spanish-speaking clients required.
  • Plan, coordinate, publicize, implement and facilitate support groups, recreational activities, special events and holiday programs. Update and post printed materials and encourage client participation.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of new programs aimed at enhancing client's motivation through socialization and the development of leisure time skills.
  • Coordinate programs with case managers in order to facilitate success of In-Reach sessions.
  • Develop contacts with various sources for off-site activities.
  • Assist in preparing and submitting written and statistical reports.
  • Provide aftercare to assigned clients who have been placed / discharged from the facility.
