Job summary

The City of Miami Beach's Parks and Recreation Department seeks a supervisor to support development and operations of youth and adult recreation programs, including after-school, camps, senior activities, and special events. Responsibilities include budgeting, staff supervision, and program evaluation to maximize participation.

Incumbents will oversee facility operations, coordinate events, and ensure compliance with policies while maintaining professional service standards across the department.

Qualifications

• 5 years of full-time verifiable experience in supervising public park and recreation services
• 3 years of lead supervisory experience planning and implementing recreational programs, fitness and parks
• Experience can substitute for education.
• Must become First Aid and CPR certified within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assists in organizing and executing city-wide recreational activities, programs, and special events.
• Oversees and executes all aspects of Parks and Recreation special events.
• Attends and participates in various public meetings.
• Completes and compiles detailed reports including program proposals, payroll, attendance tracking, and financial reports.
• Recommends the employment or dismissal of subordinate personnel.
• Assists in the planning and leading of in-service training programs.
• Plans, organizes, and supervises assigned phases of recreation program.
• Participates in the public relations program relating to recreational functions.
• Inspects facilities and equipment and administers repairs needed.
