Qualifications

• Five years of full‑time verifiable experience in supervision of public parks and recreation, with 3 years lead supervisory experience.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• An associate degree in recreation, sports management, education, or related field.
• Experience can substitute for education.
• Must become First Aid and CPR certified within six months of hire.
• DCF 40-hour childcare training within 90 days of employment; City pays for training and tests (up to 3 attempts).
• Ability to work at multiple locations and varying shifts, including holidays.

Responsibilities

• Organize city‑wide recreational activities, programs, and special events.
• Oversee all aspects of Parks and Recreation special events.
• Attend and participate in public meetings.
• Prepare detailed reports: program proposals, payroll, attendance, participant logs, and financial reports.
• Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate staff including instructors and volunteers.
• Develop budget recommendations and manage contracts for services.
• Coordinate activities and ensure excellent customer service.
• Inspect facilities and equipment; arrange repairs as needed.
