Job summary

The City of Brewer Parks & Recreation Department is seeking an energetic Recreation Programmer to plan, coordinate, and deliver programs and events for all ages in Brewer, Maine.

You will assist with promotion, staff supervision, facility operations, and maintenance, with a 40-hour workweek and hourly pay between $21 and $24.50.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
  • Experience in parks and recreation or a related field required.
  • First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications and a valid Maine driver's license.
  • Strong organization, creativity, and hands-on approach to programming and facility operations.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and deliver recreation programs and special events for youth, adults, and seniors.
  • Assist with program promotion, staffing, facility operations, and maintenance.

The City of Brewer is seeking an energetic and dependable Recreation Programmer to help plan, coordinate, and deliver recreation programs and special events for youth, adults, and seniors. This position also assists with program promotion, seasonal and part-time staff, facility operations, and general maintenance of recreation facilities and grounds.

Salary Range: $21 - 24.50 / hr (40 hour week)

Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred. Experience in parks and recreation or a related field is required. Candidates must possess or obtain First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications and have a valid Maine driver’s license.

The successful candidate will be organized, creative, comfortable working with the public, and willing to take a hands‑on role in both recreation programming and facility operations.
