Job summary

Abilene Zoological Gardens is seeking a Recreation Center Supervisor to oversee daily operations, open/close procedures, and program coordination. You will supervise staff, front desk personnel, and instructors while ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming facility for members and guests.

You will manage registrations, assist with budgeting and purchasing, and report on attendance and program satisfaction. The role requires adapting to evolving community needs and delivering quality recreation

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree in recreation administration, physical education, leisure activity, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily facility operations, including opening/closing, inspections, and equipment readiness.
• Supervise full-time, part-time staff, volunteers, and instructors; provide coaching and scheduling.
• Deliver excellent customer service; handle registrations and inquiries; promote programs and events.
• Assist in planning and supervising recreational programs, classes, leagues, and events.
• Prepare reports, track attendance, monitor usage, maintain records; assist with registrations and deposits.
• Serve as acting manager when needed; make staffing decisions to maintain service and safety standards.
• Operate a city vehicle as needed for meetings and events.
