Job summary

The City of Abilene, Texas, is seeking a Recreation Center Supervisor to oversee daily operations, ensure safety, and manage staff and programs. You will assist in planning recreational activities, coordinating events, and maintaining accurate records for registrations and finances.

Reporting to the Recreation Center Manager, you will supervise full-time and part-time staff, front desk personnel, and volunteers, while delivering strong customer service and maintaining community partnerships.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s preferred.
• 1–3 years in recreation, fitness, or related fields.
• Experience supervising staff and coordinating programs.
• Familiar with budgeting, inventory, and administrative tasks.
• Knowledge of scheduling and membership systems.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily facility operations, openings/closings, and safety.
• Hire, train, schedule, and supervise staff and instructors.
• Deliver excellent customer service and handle conflicts.
• Plan and supervise programs, classes, and events.
• Maintain records, registrations, and financial transactions.
