Position Details

  • THIS IS A TEMPORARY PART-TIME POSITION. 20 HOURS / 14 WEEKS*

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt | Safety Sensitive: YES | Level II Screening: YES

Under the general direction of the designated supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for assisting in the administration, scheduling, and operation of facilities. Responsibilities vary based on facility assignment and may include monitoring participants, providing instruction, cash handling, reporting, processing registrations, general cleanup, and custodial duties. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Responsibilities During an Emergency

  • Essential Employees may be required to work during a declared emergency, possibly around the clock for several days.
  • Non-Essential Employees will not be required to work during a declared emergency, with scheduling determined by the Department Head.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assist with special events, including setup and removal of equipment, decorations, and food supplies.
  • Assist with onsite sports programs, including setup and takedown of equipment.
  • Monitor patrons, including children in activities or programs.
  • Prepare and serve food at concessions using necessary equipment.
  • Handle cash as needed.
  • Monitor facility usage, open and close facilities, and perform minor maintenance.
  • Provide information and instructions to clients regarding buildings, facilities, and programs.
  • Count attendance and prepare incident reports.
  • Perform custodial duties as needed.
  • Operate equipment such as Zamboni or golf carts when assigned.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance and physical presence at the workplace.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Mandatory Drug/Alcohol Testing required.
  • Must be at least 16 years old; at least 18 when assigned to Police Athletic League.
  • Candidates under 18 must be enrolled in high school or have a high school diploma.
  • Must obtain CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification within twelve months of hire.

When working with Youth, must meet DCF requirements and inspections.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School diploma/GED
  • Six months related experience and/or training.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

  • Activities include balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, walking, pulling.
  • Work involves light exertion, up to 20 pounds occasionally.
  • Environmental exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals, noise, dust, and sun.
  • Contact with the public, vendors, agencies, and possibly working nights, weekends, and holidays.
