Schedule:

flexible; 2-3 hours per shift, two or three afternoons/evenings per week or on the weekend; This job has no end date - you can continue to work with Alex for as long as you'd like. Sometimes we've had people work for a summer or an entire year and sometimes we have had people work 2 - 4 years with Alex while they are undergrads at UW!

Salary/Wage Range:

Hourly $18.00 to $20.00

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Two or three times per week, 2 or 3 hours each session; weekdays after 3:30 pm or anytime on weekends. Alex needs someone to facilitate community outings and activities such as visits to bookstores, walks or hikes in the Madison area, trips to the zoo, the pool, the arboretum, movies etc. Alex is a good-natured and happy guy who especially loves swimming at his health club. He has limited expressive speech – he makes his wants and needs known but struggles to express more complex ideas. He loves books and the computer. He works on weekdays until about 3:00 and really enjoys getting out into the community. He lives on the west side of Madison, about 20-30 minutes from the UW campus. We pay $18.00/hr plus a mileage reimbursement for when you transport Alex on outings.

Qualifications:

Physical Demands

Must be able and willing to swim with Alex as well as take him on walks of up to 3 miles
