Job description

Position assigned to the NAF Fitness/Sports/Fleet Readiness; Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) at Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, VA. The incumbent serves in an assistant/support capacity, performing duties within the Fitness, Sports, Fitness Support, Sports Support, or Aquatics Support sections. The primary function is to ensure proper usage of the facility and assist in the operation of recreation activities.

• Must pass all applicable records and background checks.

Qualifications

Resumes must include information demonstrating experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) related to this position. Applicants are encouraged to be clear and specific when describing their experience level and KSAs. A qualified candidate possesses the following:

• Knowledge of MWR policies, rules, and regulations involving the work area.
• Knowledge of basic arithmetic for computing charges, dispersing change accurately, and preparing reports.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures.
• Knowledge of basic fitness, aquatics, and sports principles.
• Knowledge of safe use and operation of fitness equipment, facility operations, and basic maintenance/repair.
• Skill in using Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and others related to fitness, sports, and aquatics programming.
• Skill and ability to provide fitness, aquatics, and sports training or orientation.
• Ability to independently carry out day-to-day recreation operations.
• Ability to develop and deliver presentations and/or training effectively.
• Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.
