Job description

Support the Military's Quality of Life programs! The Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) department of Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) provides fitness, recreation, lodging, and food and beverage programs for service members, their families, retired military, and civilian employees. This position is assigned to the Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) Community Recreation and Deployed Support Branch at Fleet Readiness, Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC), NAS Whidbey Island.

Duties

Responsibilities include organizing and conducting leisure activities, managing special events, and providing excellent customer service to patrons.

Requirements
  • Successful completion of National Agency Background Check (NACI) required.
  • Availability to work special events, weekends, and holidays.
  • Valid state driver’s license.
  • Physical ability to stand, bend, stoop, walk, push, reach, climb, and lift objects up to 40 pounds unassisted.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain food handler’s certification, CPR, and First Aid within 90 days of hire.
  • Work may involve climbing around equipment, moving towable equipment, and organizing seasonal supplies.
Qualifications
  • Ability to work independently.
  • One year of practical work experience.
  • Skill in organizing, planning, and managing special events and entertainment activities.
  • Knowledge of leisure activity planning principles, Navy MWR mission, and scope of Community Recreation activities.
  • Responsible, courteous, and effective communication skills with the public.
  • Ability to handle cash transactions accurately and operate a cash register.
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
