Support the Military's Quality of Life programs! The Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) department of Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) provides fitness, recreation, lodging, and food and beverage programs for service members, their families, retired military, and civilian employees. This position is assigned to the Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) Fitness, Sports, and Deployed Support Branch; Fleet Readiness; Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC).
Duties
- Issue recreation equipment, uniforms, and athletic gear to authorized patrons, ensuring checkout slips are completed for all issued items.
- Receive recreation equipment, uniforms, and athletic gear from patrons after use and return items to proper storage.
- Verify patron authorization and ensure correct check-in procedures.
- Collect fees and issue receipts for facility use, following established policies and procedures, including point of sale system operations.
- Maintain records, files, receipts, and perform basic bookkeeping.
- Operate washers and dryers to clean uniforms, towels, and soft goods for issue.
- Assist in conducting events at the fitness center/gym, including setting up nets, preparing courts, and inspecting equipment for safety.
- Answer phones and provide information about the facilities, including playing fields, racquetball courts, volleyball courts, basketball, softball, etc.
- Conduct routine walk-throughs to check for security, fire, and safety issues.
- Assist with maintenance of equipment as needed.
- Ensure the facilities are properly utilized and safeguarded from misuse, perform general housekeeping, and maintain a clean, safe environment.
- Assist in preparing the facility for use and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Successful completion of a National Agency Background Check (NACI) is required.
- Availability to work during special events, weekends, and holidays may be required.
- Work is performed indoors and outdoors under various weather conditions.
- Physical ability to stand, bend, stoop, walk, push, reach, climb, and lift objects up to 45 pounds unassisted.
- Completion of CPR, First Aid, and AED training within 90 days of appointment, paid for by the command.
Qualifications
Must be responsible, courteous, and able to communicate effectively with the public. A neat appearance is required. Ability to quickly learn the rules and practices of equipment use. Experience in customer service and cash handling is preferred.
