Job summary

Norwich Rehabilitation & Nursing Center is seeking a recreation aide to implement programs and activities for residents. The role involves creating decorations, organizing crafts, and coordinating social events to promote engagement and well-being.

Responsibilities include scheduling activities, leading games and parties, escorting residents to Recreation areas, assisting with errands, and documenting activities in the resident's medical record.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
• Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the residents served.
• Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.

Responsibilities

• Implement Recreation procedures as directed by the Recreation Director by creating decorations, setting up necessary equipment, creating crafts, escorting residents to and from Recreation area, and awarding prizes.
• Assist in scheduling movies, planning parties, and providing games/activities for residents.
• Encourage residents to participate in recreational social activities so that all residents are involved in activities by engaging in and organizing games, crafts, religious services, parties, etc.
• Encourage residents to participate in recreational social activities so that all residents are involved in activities by engaging in and organizing games, crafts, religious services, parties, etc.
• Assist in-room residents by visiting with them, writing letters, running errands, making appointments, etc., as necessary.
• Participate and guide individual, and/or group, re-motivation and reality orientation sessions to promote the worth, self-esteem and reality level of the residents.
• Complete required documentation as directed in the resident’s medical record.
