Job summary

Auburn Rehabilitation is seeking a dedicated recreation aide to support residents with engaging activities at one location in New York. Under the Recreation Director, you will create decorations, set up equipment, and lead crafts to enrich daily life.

You will assist in scheduling movies, planning parties, and providing games and activities, while encouraging broad resident participation and social interaction. Training is provided for new staff.

Qualifications

• Educational requirement: High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
• General work experience preferred but not required; on-the-job training is provided.

Responsibilities

• Implement Recreation procedures as directed by the Recreation Director, including decorations and craft activities.
• Assist in scheduling movies, planning parties, and providing games/activities.
• Encourage residents to participate in recreational activities and socialize through games and events.
• Assist in-room residents by visiting, writing letters, running errands, and making appointments.
• Lead and participate in re-motivation and reality orientation sessions to support residents’ self-worth.
• Complete required documentation in residents' medical records.
• Support overall program operations at the specified location.

Essential Functions

• Implement Recreation procedures as directed by the Recreation Director by creating decorations, setting up necessary equipment, creating ceramics, needlework, woodwork and other crafts, escorting residents to and from Recreation area, and awarding prizes.

• Assist in scheduling movies, planning parties, and providing games/activities for residents.

• Encourage residents to participate in recreational social activities so that all residents are involved in activities by engaging in and organizing games, crafts, religious services, parties, etc.

• Assist in-room residents by visiting with them, writing letters, running errands, making appointments, etc., as necessary.

• Participate and guide individual, and/or group, re-motivation and reality orientation sessions to promote the worth, self-esteem and reality level of the residents.

• Complete required documentation as directed in the resident’s medical record.
