Job summary

Tarrytown Rehabilitation & Nursing Center is seeking a Full-time Recreation Aide to cover weekends. This role requires English proficiency, compassion for seniors, and the ability to plan and lead engaging activities.

You will implement crafts, coordinate movies and parties, encourage participation, assist residents, and document activities in the medical record under the Recreation Director's supervision.

Qualifications

• Must read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to provide care appropriate to age-related needs.
• Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant them.

Responsibilities

• Implement Recreation procedures as directed by the Recreation Director, including crafts and events.
• Assist in scheduling movies, planning parties, and providing games/activities.
• Encourage participation in recreational activities and organize games, crafts, services, and parties.
• Assist in-room residents by visiting, writing letters, running errands, making appointments.
• Conduct motivational and reality orientation sessions to support residents' self-esteem.
• Complete required documentation in the resident's medical record.

Essential Functions

1. Implement Recreation procedures as directed by the Recreation Director by creating decorations, setting up necessary equipment, creating ceramics, needlework, woodwork and other crafts, escorting residents to and from Recreation area, and awarding prizes.
2. Assist in scheduling movies, planning parties, and providing games/activities for residents.
3. Encourage residents to participate in recreational social activities so that all residents are involved in activities by engaging in and organizing games, crafts, religious services, parties, etc.

6. Participate and guide individual, and/or group, re-motivation and reality orientation sessions to promote the worth, self-esteem and reality level of the residents.
7. Complete required documentation as directed in the resident’s medical record.
