Job description

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a lifeguard for indoor and outdoor pools, reporting to the Installation Aquatics Program Manager.
  • Monitor pool area for safety, respond to emergencies, rescue patrons, and administer first aid as required.
  • Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the pool area, ensuring it is free from hazards.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the program manager.
Conditions of Employment
  • Direct deposit and a Social Security card are required.
  • Meet qualification, eligibility, and background requirements for the position.
  • One‑year probationary period may be required.
  • Complete E‑Verify and pre‑employment checks in accordance with AR215‑3 Chapter 2.
  • Lifeguard must have 20/40 vision (corrected or uncorrected) to recognize emergencies.
  • Pass a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card and regular background re‑verification every five years.
  • Complete an employer‑referred pre‑employment physical examination.
  • Be able to work a schedule that includes days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Work under continuous exposure to sun and high humidity.
  • If exposed to an infectious disease, obtain the Hepatitis B vaccination series within 24 hours.
  • Follow environmental safeguards and wear personal protective equipment.
  • May be assigned to irregular duties or special recreational events.
  • All required certifications must be kept current.
  • Possess a lifeguarding certificate, first aid (American Red Cross or equivalent), CPR Professional (or equivalent), and oxygen administration certification.
  • Must be at least 16 years old at appointment.
Qualifications
  • Lifeguarding certificate and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent).
  • Cardio‑Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional; CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Heart Association).
  • Oxygen Administration certification (American Red Cross or equivalent).
  • Minimum age 16 years.
