Job summary

U.S. Army MWR at Fort Stewart, GA seeks lifeguards for multiple aquatic facilities. This is a training position for a certified Lifeguard; incumbents will be reassigned after certification to oversee lifeguarding duties, with supervision and guidance.

Working evenings, weekends, and holidays is required; candidates must meet health and background requirements, obtain Lifeguarding, First Aid and CPR/AED within 30 days, and maintain current certifications.

Summary

Eligibility

• U.S. Citizens, Nationals or those who owe allegiance to the U.S.
• U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. or U.S. territory for three (3) or more continuous years immediately preceding the start of federal affiliation.

Duties

• Mandatory certifications must be completed within 30 calendar days of employment.
• Upon completion of mandatory certifications, the incumbent will be noncompetitively reassigned to Recreation Aid (Lifeguard), PD #3206, responsible for lifeguarding guests in attendance at an assigned aquatic facility.
• This is a training position for a certified Lifeguard. Works under close supervision wherein the work is closely reviewed/monitored and detailed guidance provided.

Conditions of Employment and Requirements

• Fifteen (15) year old lifeguards must comply with the restriction of the DOL Child Labors Law (Jan 17, 2006).
• Direct Deposit and Social Security Card are required.
• Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
• A one-year probationary period may be required.
• Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
• Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
• The incumbent may be subject to additional background checks if required to have regular and recurring contact with children.
• Must have current health assessment that documents good physical health, free from communicable disease IAW current Army Policy.
• Be able to obtain within 30 days and maintain Lifeguarding, First Aid and CPR/AED certifications from a nationally recognized agency.
• All required certifications must be kept current.
• Continuous exposure to sun and prolonged periods of high temperature and humidity. In case of exposure to infectious disease, incumbent is required to obtain the Hepatitis B vaccination series within a 24-hour period.
• Lifeguards must have good vision (based upon an acceptable standard of 20/40 vision or better, either with glasses or contact or uncorrected) while on duty to effectively recognize all emergencies, incidents and rule breaking.
• Incumbent is required to follow environmental safeguards and wear personal protective equipment.
• May be assigned to irregular duties or when needed for special recreational events and related requirements. Work hours may involve weekend, weekdays, holidays and night duty.
