Job description

Duties

• Serves as a lifeguard for indoor and outdoor pools and works under the direction of the Installation Aquatics Program Manager.
• Provides maximum pool area surveillance and responds to emergencies; rescues pool patrons and administers first aid as required.
• Employs safety rules for the protection of pool guests; responsible for lifeguarding guests in attendance at the assigned aquatics facility.
• Assists in maintaining pool and area clean and free from hazards.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Direct Deposit and Social Security Card required.
• Meet qualification, eligibility and background requirements for this position.
• One-year probationary period may be required.
• Complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check satisfactorily.
• Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, paragraph 2, including a Tier 1 background investigation.
• Incumbent may be subject to additional background checks if required to have regular and recurring contact with children.
• Must have current health assessment documenting good physical health, free from communicable disease per current Army Policy.
• Continuous exposure to sun and prolonged periods of high temperature and humidity may occur; if exposed to infectious disease, incumbent must obtain the Hepatitis B vaccination series within a 24‑hour period.
• Lifeguards must have good vision (20/40 or better, corrected or uncorrected) while on duty to effectively recognize emergencies.
• Incumbent required to follow environmental safeguards and wear personal protective equipment.
• May be assigned to irregular duties or when needed for special recreational events; work hours may involve weekends, weekdays, holidays, and night duty.
• Fifteen-year-old lifeguards must comply with the restriction of the DOL Child Labor Law (Jan 17, 2006).
• All required certifications must be kept current.

Qualifications

• Resumes must be two pages or less and clearly demonstrate relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and abilities for this position.
• Possesses and maintains the following certifications: Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent such as Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS); American Red Cross “Cardio‑Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional,” CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED).
• Certifications must be uploaded at the time of application.

Area of Consideration

• Job open to candidates located within a 50‑mile radius of Fort Stewart/Hunter Army Airfield, GA. Military spouse and in‑actively separated military preference eligible candidates are included.

Incentives

• Earn up to $1,000 in cash awards this season for meeting shift‑coverage goals that help keep our pools open and fully staffed.
• $500 for working 70% of available shifts through 2 August with no documented conduct or attendance issues.
• $500 for working 70% of available weekend shifts from 8 August – 1 November with no documented conduct or attendance issues.
• Incentives may be authorized in accordance with AR 672‑20 and are not guaranteed. These are not recruitment or retention bonuses under AR 215‑3.

Allowances and Differentials

• This job is part of a pay‑banded system. Sunday premium pay for regularly scheduled employees and night differential pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander.
• Non‑foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
