Responsibilities
- Performs lifeguarding duties and employs safety rules for the protection of the pool guests.
- Responsible for lifeguarding guests in attendance at the assigned aquatics facility.
- Rescues swimmers and administers first aid as required.
- Assists in maintaining pool and area clean and free from any hazards.
Requirements
- Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
- Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
- A one-year probationary period may be required.
- Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
- Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, Chapter 2.
- Incumbent may also be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.
- Continuous exposure to sun and prolonged periods of high temperature and humidity.
- In case of exposure to infectious disease, incumbent is required to obtain the Hepatitis B vaccination series within a 24-hour period.
- Incumbent is required to follow environmental safeguards and wear personal protective equipment.
- May be assigned to irregular duties or when needed for special recreational events and related requirements.
- Work hours may involve weekends, weekdays, holidays and night duty.
- In addition, the incumbent may be subject to additional background checks if required to have regular and recurring contact with children.
- A medical examination may be required.
- Vision must be 20/40 or better, either corrected (with glasses or contacts) or uncorrected.
Qualifications

A qualified candidate must possess and maintain the following certifications:
- Lifeguard (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Star Guard or Ellis.)
- American Red Cross Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional.
- CPR for the Professional Rescuer or equivalent (i.e. Star Guard or Ellis.)
- First Aid.
In addition, candidate must possess customer service experience.
In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified":
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Star Guard or Ellis Lifeguard Instructor Certification.
- American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Star Guard or Ellis Water Safety Instructor Certification.
Education
This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
