True North Recovery in Wasilla, Alaska, is seeking a dedicated Peer Support Specialist to assist individuals on their recovery journeys. The role leverages lived experience to provide compassionate guidance and accurate documentation, while connecting clients to essential resources and services.

You will advocate for clients in treatment and the community, model healthy recovery behaviors, and collaborate with the treatment team. Strong writing and documentation skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have lived recovery experience and 6 months sobriety prior to hire.
• Ability to obtain Alaska Peer Support Certification within 3 years.
• Valid Alaska driver's license and access to a personal vehicle.
• Employment subject to satisfactory background checks.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct peer support to clients in recovery services, linking to employment, education, housing, and community resources.
• Assist clients in setting and pursuing recovery goals.
• Serve as a role model and liaise with providers and treatment teams.
• Develop and maintain professional client relationships with appropriate boundaries.
• Provide motivational interviewing and social support to enhance life skills and employment opportunities.
• Document services in client EHR using DAP notes in compliance with guidelines.
