Job summary

True North Recovery Inc. is seeking a dedicated Peer Support Specialist to assist individuals in recovery from addiction and mental health challenges.

You will draw on lived experience and training to guide clients, connect them with resources, and foster a supportive environment. Responsibilities include direct peer support, linkage to housing and employment, collaboration with treatment teams, and accurate documentation in EHR using DAP notes.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to obtain Peer Support Certification with the State of Alaska within 3 years of hire date.
• Lived experience in addiction recovery, and 6 months continuous sobriety prior to hire.
• Employment is contingent upon satisfactory state and federal background check.
• Combination of education, experience, and licensure accepted.
• Active in personal recovery by practicing self-care.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct peer support to clients in recovery, linking to employment, housing, and community resources.
• Assists clients in setting and pursuing recovery goals.
• Acts as a role model and liaison to providers and treatment teams.
• Develops relationships with clients while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Provides motivational interviewing and social support, building interpersonal skills for employment.
• Maintains awareness of Alaska peer support services and community resources.
• Completes timely documentation in the client’s EHR using DAP notes.
