Job summary

True North Recovery Inc. in Alaska seeks a Peer Support Specialist to assist individuals in recovery from addiction and mental health challenges. You will draw on lived experience and training to support clients, connect them with resources, and foster a safe, encouraging environment.

Working under the Peer Support Supervisor, you will engage in outreach, document in the EHR, and collaborate with the treatment team to promote independence and community integration for clients.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; ability to obtain Peer Support Certification within 3 years of hire.
• Lived recovery experience with 6 months sobriety preferred.
• Background check required; combination of education and licensure considered.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct peer support and link clients to employment, education, housing, and community resources.
• Assist clients in setting recovery goals and act as a positive role model.
• Liaise with providers and treatment teams; maintain professional boundaries with clients.
• Deliver motivational interviewing and social, emotional support; aid in developing life skills.
• Document accurately in the client’s EHR using DAP format; ensure compliance with guidelines.
