Freedom House Recovery Center, Inc. is seeking a Peer Support Specialist to provide direct peer support to clients, guided by the treatment plan. You will facilitate groups, assist with daily decision-making, and connect clients to resources that promote recovery and community living.

You will transport clients as needed and participate in community meetings to advocate for consumer needs, supporting their development of healthy relationships and empowerment skills.

Competenze

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Certified as a Peer Support Specialist or 2 continuous years as a current or former recipient of treatment (including mental health/substance abuse treatment or diagnosis) and eligible for certification as a Peer Support Specialist by the governing agency.
• Must complete a minimum of twenty (20) hours of training specific to the required components of the service definition within the first 30 days of employment.
• Valid driver’s license and maintain active automobile insurance.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
• CPR, first aid, NCI, and/or role-related certification, a plus.

• Meeting with clients to provide advice and support in accordance with the treatment plan.
• Assisting in peer support groups with assigned consumers on a regular basis
• Supporting/assisting consumers in daily decision-making and resolution of minor problems
• Assisting clients by finding resources, advising the consumer of processes, and encouraging follow-through with proposed resolutions
• Locating social activities or providing other assistance as needed.
• Transport and accompany clients to meetings, appointments, and community groups
• Participate in meetings of community groups to advocate for consumer needs
• Leading recovery dialogues/self-help sessions with clients.
• Fostering clients’ development of healthy relationships by encouraging participation in community activities
• Observing behavior and discuss observations with clients
• Modeling coping and self-help techniques to individuals or groups
• Providing advice on empowerment skills and successful community living
• Informing clients on community resources and how to use them
• Attends in-services, staff meetings, and other functions
• Maintains a schedule approved by the Supervisor
• Is reliable in work attendance and follows procedures for leave
