Freedom House Recovery Center, Inc. is seeking a Peer Support Specialist to provide direct peer support to clients, guided by the treatment plan. You will facilitate groups, assist with daily decision-making, and connect clients to resources that promote recovery and community living.

You will transport clients as needed and participate in community meetings to advocate for consumer needs, supporting their development of healthy relationships and empowerment skills.

Competenze

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Certified as a Peer Support Specialist or 2 continuous years as a current or former recipient of treatment (including mental health/substance abuse treatment or diagnosis) and eligible for certification as a Peer Support Specialist by the governing agency.
• Must complete a minimum of twenty (20) hours of training specific to the required components of the service definition within the first 30 days of employment.
• Valid driver’s license and maintain active automobile insurance.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
• CPR, first aid, NCI, and/or role-related certification, a plus.

The Peer Support Specialist plays an important role within Freedom House Recovery Center's team, supporting the organization's mission to serve all in our community on their path to recovery, no matter who they are or what challenges they face. Reporting to the Peer Support Supervisor, this position is responsible for providing direct peer support to clients through individual guidance, group sessions, community advocacy, and connection to resources that promote recovery and successful community living, and works closely with colleagues across the organization to ensure consistent, dependable service to the individuals and families we serve.

Compensation:

$18 hourly

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Certified as a Peer Support Specialist or 2 continuous years as a current or former recipient of treatment
• (Including mental health/substance abuse treatment or diagnosis) and eligibility for certification as a Peer
• Support Specialist by the governing agency.

• Observing behavior and evidence of general well-being and discussing observations with the clients.
• Modeling effective coping and self-help techniques to individuals or groups of consumers
• Providing advice to clients on empowerment skills and successful community living
• Informing clients on community resources and how to use them appropriately, providing information to consumers and families on specific topics, as assigned.
• Attends in-services, staff meetings, and other staff functions as required by the Supervisor.
• Maintains a schedule approved by the Supervisor.
• Is reliable in work attendance and follows Freedom House procedures when requesting planned or unplanned leave.
