Job summary

Aging True seeks a Certified Recovery Peer Specialist (CRPS) to provide peer support and advocacy for participants in the Florida Self-Directed Care Program, ages 18+. The CRPS models recovery, offers coaching, and helps individuals access community resources to regain control of their lives.

The role requires driving across the community, meeting timeframes, and maintaining ethical standards while sharing personal recovery experiences when appropriate. In-person work is required in Florida.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED.
• Valid Driver's License and auto insurance.
• Reliable transportation to travel throughout the community.
• Proficiency in reading and writing.
• Training program approved by Florida DCF/FL Certification Board for CRPS.
• Pass certification exam approved by Florida Certification Board within 6 months.
• Completes 10 hours of approved continuing education yearly.
• Adheres to Florida Certification Board's Ethics and Conduct.
• Belief in recovery and willingness to share experience as appropriate.
• Willingness to engage based on individual needs; build trust.
• Ability to establish personal boundaries.
• Able to pass Florida Level II background screening.
• Able to pass pre-employment drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Provides Recovery Education across recovery journey.
• Coaches recovery participants in using community supports.
• Identifies strengths and assists LAP planning and implementation.
• Supports development of recovery goals and community integration.
• Promotes self-advocacy and communicates needs to providers.
• Links individuals to professional resources when needed.
• Identifies and leverages natural community resources.
• Develops relationships with community groups and agencies.
• Connects participants to self-help and mutual support groups.
• Outreach and engagement to enhance participation in recovery.
