Job summary

WestCare Foundation seeks a peer support specialist with lived recovery experience to educate clients, refer to community resources, and promote wellness and resiliency in a community/outpatient setting in Florida.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in recovery, is bilingual (English/Spanish preferred), and can pass a Level II DCF background check. CRPS certification within one year is required, along with a professional, confidential demeanor.

Qualifications

• Lived experience with substance use disorders and recovery
• Preferred: prior peer support experience
• Must have a High School diploma or equivalent
• CRPS Certification through the Florida Certification Board within one year of hire
• Must pass Level II DCF background check
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
• Commitment to confidentiality and ethical conduct

Responsibilities

• Educate and refer clients to community resources addressing basic needs
• Provide services that promote wellness, recovery, and resiliency
• Assist clients in establishing or re-establishing support systems
• Advocate for patients to improve access to needed services
• Participate in clinical staffing decisions regarding patient strengths and needs
• Provide supervision and support to program clients
• Collaborate with WestCare staff to maintain a professional community presence
• Engage in recovery-related activities and plan group events
• Embrace WestCare Foundation's mission and goals and perform other duties as assigned
