Job summary

The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus Addiction Research and Treatment Services (ARTS) seeks a Peer Recovery Specialist to support adults with substance use disorder across the ARTS outpatient program in Denver, Aurora, and Arvada. The role emphasizes engagement, outreach, and connecting patients to treatment, with emphasis on leveraging lived experience to support recovery.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Minimum 1 year of professional experience connecting individuals in SUD treatment to resources.
  • Willingness to obtain Colorado peer-related certifications within 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the assessment and treatment for individuals living with SUD who first enter care at the CU Health ED.
  • Communicate, facilitate, and collaborate among CU Health ED, ARTS Potomac Street Center, and STRIDE to ensure a smooth transition to outpatient SUD/MAT treatment.
  • Leverage lived experience to encourage and support individuals who may be reluctant to enter treatment.
  • Coordinate communication and collaboration among CU Health ED, ARTS Potomac Street Center, and STRIDE Community Health Center.
  • Be responsive to individualized needs of each patient under care.
  • Follow up and outreach all patient participants, including those referred but not admitted.
  • Work with project staff to track project data and peer contacts.
  • Facilitate peer-led groups to support patient recovery.
  • Track referrals across agencies to engage patients in treatment and provide recovery resources.
