Job summary

CNS Healthcare in Detroit, MI is hiring a Peer Support Specialist to mentor young adults at Covenant House Michigan. You will share lived experience to empower clients toward community inclusion, independence, and recovery while coordinating with a multidisciplinary team.

The role requires a high school diploma, a valid driver’s license, and eligibility for Michigan CPSS certification. Compensation ranges from $22 to $26 per hour with benefits including insurance, retirement, PTO, and holidays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid and unrestricted Driver’s License required.
• Must meet eligibility for State of Michigan Peer Support Specialist Certification.
• Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong personal lived experience with a mental health condition.
• Transportation accessibility with insured vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Supports individuals in acquiring and practicing activities of daily living.
• Assist individuals with connecting to mental health services and scheduling mental health appointments.
• Connects and supports individuals with identifying and linking to community resources to enhance life skills.
• Facilitates wellness groups and coaching addressing transitions into adulthood and improving autonomous functioning.
• Attend team meetings and receive assignments from supervisor.
• Promote client decision-making that supports self-determination and participate in the PCP process.
• Assist therapist and staff with deescalating crisis situations.
• Assist individuals with the implementation of goals identified in the PCP.
• Attend outings to enhance socialization and provide instruction-based assistance.
• Utilize a Trauma-Informed approach to deliver services.
• Completes all required documentation and maintains compliance.
• Meets productivity and documentation standards per agency expectations.
• Provide transportation assistance to individuals served as needed.
• Maintain compliance with quality care initiatives and regulatory requirements.
