Job summary

Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network seeks a Peer Support Specialist for its Mobile Crisis Unit. This contingent position supports individuals in recovery, collaborates with clinical teams, and helps connect clients to housing, employment, and education resources.

The role requires one year of peer recovery experience, a high school diploma or GED, and a Michigan driver’s license with reliable transportation. Shifts are 12 hours on Saturdays and Sundays, with potential for additional days.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of DWIHN policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of MDHHS policies and HIPAA requirements.
• Experience with peer recovery practices and crisis intervention.
• Lived experience in program recovery.
• Strong communication and interagency collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Offers guidance and support to people with substance use or mental health needs.
• Engages individuals in recovery and helps identify goals and solutions.
• Teaches recovery and life skills using recovery tools.
• Acts as a role model and advocate for clients.
• Coordinates with clinical teams to arrange services and resources.
• Maintains records and completes required documentation.
• Participates in meetings and community outreach activities.
• Provides crisis support in collaboration with mobile crisis clinicians.
