Job summary

LifeWorks in Austin, TX is hiring a Full Time Peer Support Specialist for the Peer Services team. The role centers on providing recovery-focused peer support, group facilitation, and community outreach to youth and adults facing homelessness and mental health challenges.

You will document progress, collaborate with staff, and participate in program activities while upholding trauma-informed care and client-centered principles.

Qualifications

• Requires a GED or HS Diploma.
• Requires 2 years of related peer support experience.
• Requires state certification as a Certified Peer Support Specialist (PSS).
• Requires lived experience with trauma and with substance use or mental health challenges; must show recovery.

Responsibilities

• Provide client-centered, healing-centered peer support services to diverse individuals including those facing homelessness and mental health challenges.
• Promote recovery, resiliency, and accountability to help clients achieve long-term recovery.
• Meet with clients to establish safe relationships and coordinate services and referrals as needed.
• Facilitate on-site and community-based support groups and activities.
• Engage in outreach to connect individuals with LifeWorks services.
• Develop and deliver recovery-related presentations and outreach topics.
