Job summary

CHR Community Health Resources, Inc. is seeking an Employment Specialist for the SU Employment Service in Manchester, CT.

This full-time, 40-hour/week role focuses on helping clients bridge behavioral health and employment services, with duties ranging from assessments to employer engagement. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in human services or related field, plus experience with substance use disorders or co-occurring conditions.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in human services, rehabilitation, or occupational therapy.
• Minimum 2 years of experience with individuals with substance abuse and/or co-occurring mental health issues.
• Minimum 6 months experience in employment/education and/or psychosocial rehabilitation.
• Valid driver's license; Recovery Support Certification recommended for individuals with mental illness/substance abuse.

Responsibilities

• Conducts assessments to identify employment and educational needs.
• Collaborates with individuals to create individualized, person-centered treatment plans and documents clients' progress.
• Uses motivational interventions to assist clients in meeting goals and recovery paths.
• Establishes rapport with employers to develop a network for employment opportunities.
• Maintains documentation in compliance with agency and program standards.
• Participates in staff meetings, supervision, trainings and other meetings as assigned.
