Job summary

Community Health Resources (CHR) is hiring an Education Specialist in Manchester, CT to provide specialized educational support to individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. The position is full-time, 40 hours per week, with Monday–Friday daytime hours in treatment programs and community settings.

Responsibilities include educational assessments, developing person-centered goals, and coordinating with schools and programs, while maintaining documentation

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in human services, rehabilitation, occupational therapy, or related field.
• Minimum of two years working with individuals with substance use disorders and/or co-occurring mental health conditions.
• Minimum of six months of experience in education, employment services, and/or psychosocial rehabilitation.
• Valid driver’s license. Advocacy Unlimited Recovery Support Certification recommended for lived-experience candidates.

Responsibilities

• Conducts assessments to identify educational needs.
• Collaborates with individuals to develop individualized, person-centered educational goals and plans and documents progress.
• Uses motivational interventions and stage-wise approaches to help clients pursue goals and recovery.
• Establishes rapport with educational institutions and programs to develop educational opportunities.
• Maintains documentation in compliance with agency standards.
• Participates in staff meetings, supervision, trainings, and other meetings.
