Job summary

BestCare Treatment Services Inc. seeks a Peer Support Specialist to assist outpatient mental health clients, including those recently discharged from higher levels of care.

You will promote recovery goals, support self-directed paths to wellness, and work with the treatment team to connect clients with needed services. Responsibilities include crisis-averse outreach, transportation assistance, case management support, and documentation in the electronic health system.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (or equivalent) required.
• Must meet Oregon Administrative Rules definition of a peer.
• For individuals in recovery from substance-use disorder, must have maintained continuous recovery for the previous two years.

Responsibilities

• Directs interactions with clients assigned to peer support services, acting as a role model to inspire hope.
• Telephones contacts to support clients, including those at risk of self-harm or suicide; remind about assessments and appointments.
• Assists with transportation to appointments and transitions between care settings when approved by supervisor.
• Identifies client abilities, strengths and assets and helps utilize them.
• Helps monitor clients in higher levels of care and ensure continued connection to outpatient services.
• Provides referrals to services and offers case management as needed.
• Attends program, staff meetings, and supervision sessions.
• Supports clinicians in groups and other treatment activities as needed.
• Helps clients engage in community-based recovery activities and maintains documentation in EHS.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
