Job summary

Waxahachie Discovery Point Retreat seeks a compassionate Behavioral Health Technician / Recovery Coach to support clients through treatment and recovery. You will work with clinical, medical, and operations teams to create a safe, structured environment and motivate clients to actively engage in their recovery.

You will build relationships, monitor rounds, document observations, and coordinate with staff while maintaining professional boundaries.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in behavioral health, substance use treatment or related field preferred.
• Recovery Coach, Peer Support, Behavioral Health Technician, CNA, or similar experience a plus.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to work with individuals experiencing substance use and behavioral health challenges.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Compassionate, patient, dependable, and emotionally mature.
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries with clients.
• Ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to document information.
• Multidisciplinary treatment team involvement.
• Must pass required background and employment screening.

Responsibilities

Behavioral Health Technician / Recovery Coach

Waxahachie Discovery Point Retreat is a residential and detox treatment facility dedicated to helping individuals overcome substance use and begin building a strong foundation for long term recovery. We are looking for a compassionate, dependable, and motivated Behavioral Health Technician / Recovery Coach to join our team.

Position Summary

The Behavioral Health Technician / Recovery Coach provides direct support to clients throughout their treatment experience. This position works closely with the clinical, medical, and operations teams to maintain a safe, supportive, and structured environment while encouraging clients to actively participate in their recovery.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Provide direct support, encouragement, and accountability to clients throughout their treatment stay
• Build positive and professional relationships with clients while maintaining appropriate boundaries
• Monitor client activity and provide support throughout the daily schedule
• Assist clients with following the facility schedule, including groups, meals, activities, appointments, and other programming
• Complete regular client rounds and maintain awareness of client whereabouts and safety
• Observe and report changes in client behavior, mood, or overall presentation to appropriate staff
• Assist clients with transitions, including admissions, room assignments, orientation, and discharge
• Encourage client participation in groups, activities, and other treatment programming
• Help create a clean, safe, respectful, and recovery focused environment
• Assist clients with daily living needs and provide appropriate emotional support
• Document client interactions, observations, and required information accurately and timely
• Communicate effectively with nurses, therapists, clinical leadership, operations, and other members of the treatment team
• Follow all facility policies, procedures, safety requirements, and client confidentiality standards
• Respond appropriately to behavioral or safety concerns and immediately report significant issues to the appropriate supervisor

Participate In Staff Meetings, Training, And Other Required Activities

• Recovery Coach, Peer Support, Behavioral Health Technician, CNA, or similar experience is a plus
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Ability to work effectively with individuals experiencing substance use and behavioral health challenges
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Compassionate, patient, dependable, and emotionally mature
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries with clients
• Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations

Physical Requirements

• Ability to remain active throughout the shift and assist with routine client needs
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the facility as needed
• Ability to respond quickly to client safety concerns or emergencies
• Ability to work assigned shifts, including weekends, holidays, evenings, or overnight shifts as required
